October is a month of thanks, energy and a great deal of outdoor activity as fall arrives. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ schools embodied that gratitude throughout the first month of school as students participated in fresh air activities and learning across the district.

Students and staff marked the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with assemblies and learning at all Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ schools including  and  where a sea of orange shirts communicated support for every child. Students also learned from the land:  classes visited the Kokanee Creek Nature Centre, and  celebrated Apple Day and raised funds through the Terry Fox Run as did and .

Belonging takes many forms, from House Teams at  to a wide range of school clubs at .

I also invite families this month to read through the Literacy Continuous Learning Report. Grade 4 and 7 literacy results are above the provincial average. We continue to focus on closing gaps in literacy achievement for Indigenous students and students with diverse abilities.

Enjoy this October issue of the Superintendent's Report. I am incredibly thankful for all that families do to participate in and support Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ school communities, so children are well and ready to learn every day.

Warmly,

Trish
